Hand pressed three-tone terracotta lampshade, designed by Lydia Hardwick.
Slabs of terracotta clay stained with cobalt oxide are rolled out, torn into small pieces and pressed into the inner wall of a thick plaster mould. The different colours are randomly arranged and overlapped, creating warm camouflage patterning that is unique to each piece.
The fired lamp has smooth, moulded external surface and a rough undulating interior formed by hand-pressing. Hung low, it becomes a decorative feature for a room.
